Waiting at the Bus Stop

On my way to work. The 7:58am It was good to be back home - the weekend! Seafood, pasta, candles, and .... telly! Watched a bit of this programme by Dominic Sandbrook (Let Us Entertain You) - exploring British postwar culture, "examining how culture has become Britain's newest export and a key part of our identity." A reasonable enough thesis, but the supporting evidence was all over the place - it was just his favourite artefacts and artists. Spending five minutes on the cover of Catch a Fire? I could have made it! The programme that is. And it started with old man Arfur Rank and his British movies showing how a new distinctive vision would set Britain apart from American values, and ended up demonstrating exactly the opposite with Grand Theft Auto. Brian Pern was a laugh though.
