Thursday 28 June 2012: A walk on the beach

I spent the evening giving a bit of tuition to a photographer who'd only ever used Auto on their DSLR. Within an hour, I got them to understand how aperture, shutter speed and ISO worked in letting light into the camera and the effect each one has and also understand a few basic principles of composition.

Whilst I was explaining the effect of a show shutter speed I was lucky enough to have a family walk past us and produced the ideal image that shows how you can use a handheld slow shutter creatively.
