Windsurfer

No rain but heaps of wind today. Caught up with an old school friend for coffee this morning, as you can imagine we never stopped talking!

Popped down to Sandspit Beach this afternoon, a very tidal area of the Manukau Harbour, this windsurfer was enjoying the breeze.

Such a contrast to the smoke (or pollution!) pouring out from the Steel Plant in the background. The Mill was built when I was a teenager living in Waiuku  and the town has really grown around it. The black iron sands from the west coast are used in the production of steel, but as in all of these sort of industries, times are a lot tougher and the price for steel on the world market is decreasing. There is a lot of talk about if it will survive.

Life is very busy in this household, Cody has an after school job, then he is off to squash. The girls have touch rugby training and Craig has squash after work followed by a session of Cross fit....feel tired watching them coming and going! Oh to be young again.
