Lake Coniston

Our lodges at Crake Valley are tucked to one side of Lake Coniston. This morning we walked up the hill behind the lodges, as the site manager told us there was a good view. After trying and failing to find a proper path, we got to the ridge and found - it was a very good view. Once the sun came out. Ravens croaked overhead, adding just the right bit of atmosphere.

Lunch at the Sun Inn in Coniston - we haven't been here for years.  As with our lunchtime stop yesterday, we were virtually the only people in the pub - is this the off season ?

After lunch we walked from the pub along the copper mines path towards the Old Man. The colours were spectacular - I love the colour of bracken clad hillsides at this time of the year. See the extra.
