a blip, but no hic

I know this may be anathema to some but ……. this box, delivered to my doorstep today, contains alcohol-free beer.

I gave up alcohol when The Gods of Arrhythmia started to play havoc with my heart.  In its own way, not drinking can be a bit anti-social - not to the extent of someone who drinks too much - but it’s a bit of a bore at social gatherings to be the only one not speaking in a loud voice or laughing for the millionth time at the worst joke ever.  At the very least it makes me feel a bit self-conscious.

As someone who’s played in a lot of pubs, I’ve grown tired of whiling away time with a glass of orange juice.  So I was pleasantly surprised at the range on offer - and the acceptance of - non-alcoholic beers in Germany.  OK - I still did not talk in a loud voice or laugh at the worst joke ever, but I no longer had to nurse a fruit juice all evening or stand out as different.  

This is a taster box of various alcohol-free beers from around the world, from a company in Manchester which specialises in such things.  I look forward to some serious tasting.  Cheers.
