SA Band at Olympic Torch Relay

It was an early start this morning for Derby Central Salvation Army Band as they were playing for the Olympic Torch Relay as it left Derby for Birmingham. When I woke at 5.30 am it was cloudy but dry.

This soon changed as I drove over to Derby from Long Eaton, and the rain was heavy as the Olympic Torch came by. Click here for a photo of the flame itself. But it didn't dampen the spirits of about 1,000 people in a 200 metre stretch of road who had gathered before 6.30 am.

The Salvation Army Emergency Van was also on hand serving free tea and coffee. Big thanks to the band and those in the van!
