Class of 59

That statement needs an explanation, we were all privileged to be picked to pioneer GCE's through a secondary modern school (only grammar schools did it then). There was a seventh boy , but he opted out of doing the exams to take up a motor mechanics apprenticeship and unfortunately he died several years ago. We had a year to prepare and the head master insisted that we took the exams with 2  GCE boards plus another examining board, a busy summer that was. The 6 of us have met regularly ever year we think since 2001. 59 was the year we left school. There were a similar group of girls that did the same.
