Evening Falls at Russell Square

We visited the nearby British Museum today, above all for an exhibition entitled "Drawing in silver and gold: Leonardo to Jasper Johns", featuring works using a metal stylus--most often silver--on paper or other support prepared with an abrasive ground.  It was fascinating and beautiful--both in the early works, which I expected, but also in the later ones. The website notes, "The fine point allows for precise lines so that stunningly detailed drawings can be achieved"--that's no exaggeration.  There were only a few works using gold, but on one modern drawing I saw incredibly delicate golden reflections from a few of the minute lines.

Dinner in the evening with our friends Susan and David--Americans who have lived in London for over thirty years, and who often visit us in Paris.

Blipfoto is calling  this my sixth blipversary--that's in fact not accurate; that will occur on 10-2-2016, in 2½ months.
