Monday 2 July 2012: New-ish Shoes . . . and Rocks!

Larkyn and I went to the botanical gardens today. Usually, Monday is a stay-at-home day, as I like to get a lot of housecleaning done. This morning, I awoke in a funk, just feeling so down and I guess scared for the upcoming radioactive iodine treatment. BTW, I still don't have a date set for that, as the doctor is waiting for the arrival of one drug on backorder before we schedule, so it will still be a little while . . .

ANYWAY, I guess I let things get me down. So, I knew that housecleaning wasn't the remedy, and we went out. I took Larkyn for a fast-paced walk around the gardens (her in the stroller, don't worry) for about 30 minutes, afterwhich we were both sweating. Larkyn's little nose had beads of sweat . . . just like her mama. It was over 100 degrees, afterall. We then ate our picnic lunch, visited the ducks and geese, the butterfly pavilion, and one more disappointing visit to the trains, which still aren't working! Larkyn looks at me with such sad eyes every time she reminds me that they are broken. :-( I hope they fix them soon!

Anyway, we had a great time and my spirits improved considerably. Sun therapy, I do believe.

This photo was taken after we returned home, as I love her kind of new shoes. Here she is, playing with rocks (can you believe it?) in a small puddle on the porch (made by the sprinklers, not rain, unfortunately).

I'm really rambling, so I must stop now.
