Wednesday 4 July 2012: Lake Alexandrina
Taken from the Mount Johns observatory. So hard to choose a blip today.
This morning we took a walk around to the Church of The Good Shepherd and the dog monument then along the lake shore for a bit. Took lots of photos of the church, the dog, the ice, the rocks, the geese and the lake and mountains.
Then this afternoon we went for a drive up to the observatory and had hot chocolate and cake at the cafe. What a fantastic view! As we were driving down the mountain we met 3 cyclists coming up They must be insane!
When we left there we continued up the valley towards the head of the lake. There were so many sights to see, and so many things to take photos of, that we're going back tomorrow.
For those of you who have memories of Tekapo, I've put a photo of The Church of the Good Shepherd in my blipfolio. I've deliberately only included the side of the building in order to also show the scenery, even though at this stage of the day it was mostly shrouded in cloud. We did go into the church, as it was open to visitors today, but the view through the window (much as I was thrilled to capture it) has been seen so many times!
