Life and me

strata

We needed a change of scene today so set off this morning to explore an unfamiliar stretch of coastline.
Among other places we found a lovely beach called Dunworly Bay, east of Clonakilty.
You had to hand it to the young families on the beach there in the pouring rain, buckets and spades and little ones in buggies and kiddies tumbling in and out of the sea, undeterred.
There are lots of caves and interesting rocks. These fascinated me. Can anyone explain to me how these strata were formed into these zigzag patterns?
We had a nice pub lunch in Timoleague, and drove home through the brightening afternoon to a nice dry bright sunny evening, feeling much better.
