Derelict house

Have watched this house go from a really unusual home, to dereliction over the last 5 years since the earthquakes. Recently it was up for sale and I was hoping that meant it would be kept, but today there's a notice saying electricity has been disconnected which is usually the prelude to demolition. I'd love to have seen inside it, as the outside has all kinds of "features" - fancy stonework, carvings etc, and interesting window shapes. A shame to see the character in the area going. The house next door was a cottage, but had beautiful stained glass windows. I hope they weren't just bulldozed, as the little brown box that has appeared barely has windows let alone any sign of any character. Every day I'm grateful we were allowed to keep our quirky 1920s house, rather than getting a sterile new little box.
