The neep and tree
The wind has ceased to blow, the storm has abated, the mist has risen and blown away, the floods are dispersing and the rain has stopped, but started again. At last a chance for a decent walk on the beach.
After yesterday's serious flooding along the river Ythan, Newburgh beach is covered in mountains of debris and assorted rubbish. There are masses of reeds torn from the banks of the river, trees uprooted, neeps (swedes) ripped from the fields, all washed down to the sea and onto the beach (see the "extra").
There was also this strange creature sitting forlornly on a tree trunk. Is it a denizen of the deep washed ashore by the gales? What do you think?
