The Queen's Gallery

Back blip.
Yesterday evening I went to see the Leonardo Da Vinci: Anatomist exhibition at The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

I'd never been to the gallery before, and it really is rather splendid: the entrance is classical in style, while the less ornate exhibition rooms of the gallery are beautifully finished but unobtrusive, and each room is decorated in a different strikingly rich colour (one blue, one green, and one red).

The exhibition itself was astounding: I found it touching and profound, beautiful and intriguing, interesting and inspirational. Da Vinci's ability to deduce and understand so much and with such clarity, to think independently of the dogma and beliefs of the time (for the most part) and then to depict his thinking and work with such artistic skill and finesse, was truly extraordinary. Highly recommended; it was a wonderful experience.

I also made some HDR composite images of the NHM below a dramatic sky, but this picture better represents my day (and a really memorable evening), and there'll be plenty of other opportunities to take HDR pics of NHM.
