Monday 2 July 2012: Doorstep poppy
Several years ago, I spilled some poppy seeds that had been given to me by a friend as I got out of the car. Ever since, regular as clockwork, these lovely red fluffy poppies grow all over our drive and against the front steps. We try hard not to park on them or to step on them as we go in and out. The reward? A day or two of bright cheer on the doorstep. This is the first one for this year.
Pressured morning at work as I tried to get everything done so I could get away for a governor's open day in the afternoon. Just made it and had a good session talking to some of the students about school meals, sport, house points, buildings and how they viewed their school community.
