Saturday 7 July 2012: Dayton Air Show
It was a sweltering day at the Dayton Air Show today, with temperatures close to 100F, but since we already had the tickets, we couldn't very well waste them! The tickets were through Roger's work, and were for one of the chalet areas, right on the flight line, and giving us access to an "air-conditioned" chalet, with food and drink provided. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning was struggling to cope with the extreme temperatures, and the air was still, whereas outside, there was a slight breeze. My blip is of the USAF Heritage flight, with two Q F-4 Phantoms and a P-51 Mustang. The P-51 Mustang was once used as a bomber escort in WWII and the F-4 was used in the Vietnam War through Desert Storm as a tactical fighter/bomber. The show culminated with the Blue Angels. I was so glad to get back to our air-conditioned house and have a cool shower! Fortunately, we're supposed to get a break from the excessive temperatures starting tomorrow.
