Port of Lyttelton NZ

The red ship is an ice breaker called HMS Protector. The two white launches are the Diamond Harbour Ferry and the Quail Is ferry, and in the background the old steam tug boat Lyttelton, one of the very few remaining in the world.

HMS Protector goes down to Antarctica. She displaces around 5000tons. Scott's ships displaced < 500tons - they were incredibly small to take on such voyages!
