The Print Wagon

Apothecary7's day off ... as is Monday.

So ... today Apothecary7, Maeve the Deerhound and I travelled West from Carnoustie to Dunadd, which is a few miles North of Lochgilphead, in mid Argyll. We stayed at our favourite cottage at Dunadd farm for two nights. Its was dry, if not bright, for the journey and the roads were amazingly quiet. Instead of our usual break at the Green Welly Stop in Tyndrum we stopped just before Tyndrum at an Artisan Cafe which we have wanted to try for a while but its parking area always looked busy on recent trips to the West. Today it was quiet so we stopped there, walked Maeve along the country road to stretch her legs, then had lunch in the converted old church which is the cafe. Excellent.

Onwards, and because the roads were quiet we didn't stop at Inverary but pressed on. We stopped at Lochgilphead to get some groceries then drove along by the Crinan Canal to Bellanoch where we parked by the bridge. We took Maeve for a walk along the towpath and because it was still dry and light we managed to walk along to Crinan and back. This is my favourite part of the canal towpath. I like to see the print wagon, the little cottage floating by the reeds, the swing bridge, and of course the sea lock at Crinan and the little lighthouse. It was a very different walk today with the trees bare of branches and to see all the winter colours. I hadn't expected to make the walk so it was a real bonus to look out to sea and see the islands.

It was dark by the time we got to the cottage.
