Memorial

OUR FALLEN
1939-1945
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

......are the words on this memorial found at Trousselot Park in Kaiapoi.

It's been a day of summer rain, in fact quite dismal and grey. The brightness of this beautifully kept memorial with its summer flowers peeking through the trees caught my eye, mum and I took a moment to pause to remember those who had fallen.

We visited R today, oh dear he was certainly on a mission. He had told the staff his wife was coming today which was quite true but he was expecting us to stay with him and was trying to organise beds for us. When it was time for us to go we said good-bye which went quite well until we started to walk away, he called to us several times and got quite agitated which was rather unsettling and left us feeling quite sad. We rang later in the day and were told he had settled down and was happy - it really is one day at a time.

Thank you for all the stars, hearts and lovely words for yesterday's tiny droplets. Summer rain certainly revives the garden with the colours becoming more vibrant in the damp.

Must fly as Daughter E has just walked in the door, time for a catch-up I think :)
