Sunday 8 July 2012: Cove Strand
Happy to report that I finally met up with TJ in Killarney, just 4 hours later than originally planned. After yesterday evening's exploration of Muckross the day dawned very grey and claggy so the original plan to try and climb a serious mountain was postponed. We drove through the Gap of Dunloe to get a sense of the wild majesty of the mountains here. It was a tease! We will return on a better day.
After an incredibly delicious lunch at the Avoca Cafe at Moll's Gap (really highly recommended) we headed towards the coast on the Kerry Peninsular and explored Cove Strand, Darrynane Beach and Abbey Island. There was very little sun on offer, but when it did break through it offered some wonderfully atmospheric light on to the myriad islands and headlands around this coastline. It's been a very chilled kind of day - and really just what I've needed after the last few hectic weeks. Thanks TJ. You're very good for me!
