Literacy comes to town

I went with school today (someone couldn't make it so I  got roped in) to the Cathedral with year 5.  There was a literacy festival and Carmilla Parker Bowles was presenting the certificates to the winners of a local writing competition.

There was a bit of haphazard singing by the 300 kids then some poetry ( a little abstract) and then a local author read one of his stories. One of our children won 3rd prize which was really good for him,  and he got to read it out - yes it was pretty good too.  At the end Carmilla walked past and stopped to talk to children from each school. Something that shocked her paparazzi. She doesn't normally do this. She seemed at ease talking with various staff and children.

Our kids were amazing as they walked the mile there and back in the bitter cold. The cathedral was cold, but the excitement of seeing the queen/princess made up for it.

Sewing club tonight which seems to get busier each week but the kids love it. Dentist to repair the route canal filling (gulp £100), then blood doning. What a day!

More about today can be seen here  the good thing about being bald is you stand out - you can just see me standing up taking a picture in the far right
