Tuesday 10 July 2012: island house
This is where we are living 'on island'.
Built up high to make the most of breezes and with verandahs, spacious rooms,, ceiling fans, greenery that seems to grow as you watch and in this case, bush across the road that is chockers with parrots, it is a very tropical life.
In the undercroft is a cement and metal room accessed by a hatch in the house floor. Not a panic room but a cyclone room for that time when a seriously big blow threatens.
No cyclones at this time of the year though and today we lazed by a pool under palm trees, looking out at the waters of the Gulf.
