Digester eggs

I love infrastructures, so I thought to sign up to visit the largest waste water treatment facility in New York City, the Newtown Creek plant at the borderline between Brooklyn and Queens. The visit met my very high expectations. The heart of the facility was represented by the so called digester eggs, 8 egg-shaped gigantic containers in which human waste is processed anaerobically to become a solid fertilizer cake....a very fascinating tour! And how impressing is the travel that poop must make to land on a grassy meadow out of state! ;)
