Do your best and be proud of yourself

Today was our final day working on Mr B's chair. Everyone is really pleased with it and there have been a few tears from staff and pupils as it finally came together.
It looks far better in real life and is a real joyful celebration of the life of a young man who made a real impact.

Today was the final of the school football championships, a competition that Mr B would previously have refereed. It was an emotional event and some of the children who were on the losing teams were very upset - everyone had wanted to win it for Mr B. They returned from the competition just after we had begun to write the messages on the chair, including 'Do your best, be proud of yourself'. Various children were brought over to the chair by their classmates and shown the message and reminded what Mr B would have said to them in this situation. I hope it helped.

The leaping figure at the top (just in case you are curious) depicts one of the children's stories from their time on an outdoor adventure trip when they all did the leap of faith. They were told to leap and hit the red ball with their hand - Mr B leaped and hit the ball with his head. This was just one example of him being a 'bit of a show off', one of his characteristics they remembered fondly.

I feel so privileged to have been part of this whole school tribute.
