Friday 13 July 2012: Horse

I've been on Blip since last October, and I think yesterday was the first time I blipped a (non human) animal. Today I find myself with another animal blip.

I was in Kilmacolm this afternoon, taking pictures of a converted farmhouse, for the property section. When I went out into the back garden to take shots of the exterior of the building, this horse wandered over to the fence to say hello. He brought with him a cloud of very annoying flies. I had to leave almost immediately. A goodly number of the flies decided they preferred me to the horse, and I arrived back at the farmhouse, flailing my arms in a wild and ineffective fashion.

According to Bill Bryson, this pointless technique is known in Australia as 'the bushman's salute'.
