Friday 13 July 2012: Black eye...

This smoky orange black-eyed susan Thunbergia provides a splash of colour on an unremittingly wet day - almost twenty-four hours of steady rain - and yet another day of abandoned fieldwork. The flash gives an impression of sunshine, but the drops of water tell the true story.
