Saturday 14 July 2012: Two "cholitas paceñas"

Cholita is the term used to refer to indigenous women in the Altiplano of Bolivia and Paceña means from La Paz (Bolivia's Capital city). Their manners and modes of dress have survived for over 500 years.
They are characterized by their elaborate shawls, her makeup and typical bowler hat adorned with jewelery, preferably gold.
I asked them if I could make a picture and they agreed.
Nevertheless I chose this photo in which they are in a hurry to catch their train
