My better half was able to buy an old laptop from work for £50. It came with Windows 7, which I don't hate that much, but I thought I'd let it upgrade itself to Windows 10 to see what I think. If it doesn't annoy me too much I'll leave it on (dual boot) when I install Debian GNU/Linux as the main operating system. If it annoys me a lot then I'll wipe it and put just Debian on it. I don't really like Windows, it doesn't come with any particularly useful software, and all the software I do use runs much better on Unix/Linux which Windows is most definitely not.
