INVALIDENHAUS

The building with the tower is the Invalidenhaus in our town.
It was constructed after the plans of Friedrich Conradi from 1704-1710.
And was used as a home for military veterans.
Nowadays there are several apartments in it.
All houses in the centre of our town are white painted, and the names of shops are all in one lettertype.
Piet Hein and I went together to the hairdresser in the morning. Lisa helped me first and I went for a walk through town, while it was Piet Hein's turn.
In the afternoon we had wanted to drive to Dalhausen again, planning to make the walk we had in mind yesterday. While we drove, I pointed to Derental, that one can see lying in the hills, and said that the sun lightened the village. We decided to change our plan and drove to Derental instead.
There we followed a wonderful path between meadows. It goes up, but in a nice way. At some point we climbed down in a meadow to visit the Höxter well. Here started for us a small adventure. There was a path but there were so many fallen trees, that we meandered through the forest.
We found the well, a nice sight, suddenly the water appears from below.
On our way back we had climb over a barbered wire fence, must have been an odd sight,
While we drove to Derental, we had seen one fox, who rather agitatedly ran over a meadow. Perhaps she felt hunted.
In the forest we saw several deer.
Again we came home late, tired but satisfied.

My haiku:

Clean white buildings for
Ages now they stand patiently
From their beginnings

And the proverb:

It is easier to build two chimneys, than to maintain one.
