Coltbridge Canter

Back in 1745, so not exactly yesterday, Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite supporters crossed the Water of Leith on their way to Edinburgh to find some Hanoverians.

... so the story goes.

It was around here that the old bridge was.  This is a newer version, built in 1766.  There's a plaque there now which depicts the scene of the Coltbridge Canter as embroidered on the Prestonpans Tapestry.  Circles...
