Sunday 15 July 2012: she's got the whole world in her hands ...

We've had a few months of that nervous parental anxiety that parents get long after they once thought their kids would be off their backs and out of their pockets, only to find that said offspring are still there, still dependant.

No.2 Daughter had started a nursing course but though she was doing well, decided after the first year to put things on hold for a while. She still wants to do nursing its just that her plans for how to get there have changed. She's been back home for a while having applied for jobs as a nursing assistant, the plan being that she can explore the opportunities while earning some decent cash to fund full-time study in a year or two.

She was offered one of the first jobs she applied for. I remember her excitement and enthusiasm when she returned home from the interview was such that it was a relief when the job offer followed! There's been a period of time going through the checks and references and other bureaucratic stuff and tomorrow she starts her induction week.

The two of us had a great day together, checking train and bus routes, sorting out season tickets and all the stuff we needed to do to be sure she's good to go tomorrow morning.

I had this idea for a photo so when we'd done all we had to do, we took a bus down to Portobello beach to see if it would work. And it did! We finished off the day with some great pub grub and a pint at the Espy pub overlooking the beach before heading home.
