Out with the old,on with the new

Gardener Bill here this morning ,leaving a Corbett size hill of old Campanella ,crocosmia and lupine foliage from last year which does not compost well,so as soon as Bill was away, out with the matches. As it was burning, I glimpsed across the main path and noticed one of my early rhododendrons , (I have planted over the years several for each month Feb to Nov), and the purple of Praecox dwarf looked so attractive against the evergreen foliage.
