Friday 28 November 2008: The Dark Island

Hoy is sometimes known as the dark island. Not sure why. Probably because there are days when the brooding hills dominate the skyline but there may be some old tale which explains it. I'm sure it has seen it's fair share of dark days and deeds.

Not today though. What was a flurry of snow during the night on our little island has left the high hills white and glittering. Although, somehow, they still manage to look brooding. Maybe something to do with the clouds shrugged around their shoulders.

Still, all it takes is snow on the hills to make it feel like a proper Winter.

That, and a kid murmerring christmas carols to himself on the way to school.
