What remains

On my usual dog walk in the torrential downpours today. This structure is at the first linn in the Glennifer Braes. I have no idea what it is, the remains of a pier? I don't know, it's always looked like this in my memory. The flooding up there was fierce today, walked down a flight of stairs that were covered in fast flowing water, already the force of the water had swept away a large chunk of the earth holding the stairs in position. Quite unnerving.
