Wednesday 18 July 2012: Platform Clock
Today, we spent some time at the Narrabri Old Gaol Heritage Centre Museum.
This early 20th centuary platform clock was from the Narrabri Station, and is in full working order.
They have many very interesting and diverse displays of Narrabri and District history.
The original gaol was opened in September 1882. The planned capacity was 32 inmates, but up to 49 had been accomodated. No one was ever hanged in the gaol. It ceased operation as a prison exactly 100 years after it was opened.
