Juniper Haircap

The main purpose of our visit to Dorset was to implement a conservation scheme for a rare plant, so we all spent the day working hard in a sand quarry. We started work in bright sunshine, full of vim and vigour, but ended the day soaked to the skin, as the promised rain arrived about an hour earlier than expected, and we couldn't leave until we'd got everything in a suitable state. There wasn't much time for photography, but I was rather impressed by these male plants of Juniper Haircap Polytrichum juniperinum in their spring finery.
