Wednesday 18 July 2012: Can one have too many pictures of puffins?
Today has been a day of two halves. We spent the first part of the day driving up and wandering around the Ward of Scousborough (a hill, by the way) and then wandering around the loch of Spiggie. Then, refreshed by an enormous lunch at the Spiggie Hotel (Shetlanders don't do small portions) we met Shetland blipper Pringle and went to see the Puffins (and seals, and guillemots, and bonxies) of Sumburgh Head in absolutely brilliant sunshine. Unable to decide which of 55 puffin pictures I should blip, I went for the collage effect.
One thing about puffins is clear. It's really easy to imagine them having conversations and I guess as highly sociable birds that do engage in various forms of sociable behaviour in a way they are doing. Anyway, I'll leave it to you to imagine the interactions in these various pictures.
Carol - lovely to meet you! And hope to see you again whilst we are here.
