Desert Squirrel

Taking advantage

I spent an hour or so at Orana Park today, and was lucky to see both African porcupines out and about, as well as the family of otters.  I've never seen both porcupines before, and more often than not the otters are either not outside, or not doing much.  Then a tui was singing beautifully in the walk-in aviary, and the spider monkeys ventured outside while we were watching a tiger pacing the boundary of its enclosure, and were posing for photographs when I walked past them the second time.  My photograph today, though, is of an intruder in the kea enclosure.  Two mice were boldly running around, sneaking titbits from the kea's feeding bowls.
