Thursday 19 July 2012: Morning Pose
I've seen these larvae before, and am still amazed at their ability to stand straight up, stock still, for at least a half hour. That's as long as I've been willing to watch them. This one is clinging to a tiny piece of sunflower, gripping it with his too-cute little feet, and just hanging out in the air. Toward the end of our time together he curled into a little omega and seemed satisfied with that. I don't know what they will turn into--hopefully not some hideous pests--but there are a lot of them in the sunflowers, poking their tiny little selves up into the world. I do know it's a moth, and it's about a half inch long.
