Witch of the Castle

This evening historical novelist Anne O' Brien gave a talk on the relatively unknown medieval queen Joanna of Navarre who was imprisoned in Leeds Castle accused of witchcraft by her step son Henry V.

Anne shared the insight gained from research for her latest novel 'The Queen's Choice' and delivered an intriguing interpretation of Henry IV's queen.

Through her writing Anne aims to give these lesser known queen's a strong voice. Through contemporary writing and records we know more about certain Queens than others, she said.

It just goes to show letters and journals have a big part to play in social history. Keep on writing Blippers...
