The cloisters at Canterbury Cathedral

Another day of two halves. The morning was spent in school reviewing school performance data and writing a report. Hooray, what bliss and contentment.

The afternoon was much better with a trip to Canterbury to look for curtains and for outdoor gear. Neither were very successful. I was unable to find any light coloured summer walking trousers at all let alone long enough. Susan did manage to find a lightweight jacket.

We found somewhere to park the car for free which meant we could walk into the city for free. Looking for curtains threw up more questions than we originally thought; getting the right fabric to complement the room was not easy especially as there were literally thousands of samples to look at. They're not cheap either and a valance would cost almost as much to make as the curtains themselves.

Done with shopping we found route to walk out into the countryside around Canterbury and ended up in the quiet of the evening in the Catherdal precinct and the cloisters which had a very pleasant atmosphere at the end of the day. Saw the statues of Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh at the West Door which were created to mark her Diamond Jubiliee and were unvailed by the Queen last year.

Rounded off a good afternoon and evening with a pizza at Ask before walking back to the car.
