Lunchtime dragonfly

Out surveying all day, in hot sunshine for once! We stopped to eat our lunchtime sandwich in the shade of some birch trees, and this common darter Sympetrum striolatum landed on a nearby twig - so blip sorted and back to work!

The boys were all at a barbecue when we got back, so Pete and I had a civilised dinner for two in the garden, preceded by a Gin Garden - a cocktail of gin, apple juice, elderflower cordial and cucmber - perfect after a hot day's fieldwork!
