Tarbert

10.5C and cloudy with a few bright spells. Light North Westerly breeze then Westerly increasing to moderate through the afternoon.

Apothecary7's day off.

We drove North to Tarbert (approx. 37 miles) and had a walk out along Harbour Street. We went up the hill to the site of the now ruined Tarbert Castle, which we have never visited before despite the number of times we have visited Tarbert when we have taken holidays in Argyll and Kintyre. There are good views out over East Loch Tarbert and back over the village from up on the hill. To get to Harbour Street you turn off the main A83 that runs North/South in Kintyre so you might say that Tarbert is by the wayside and fits the Mono Monday theme.

We carried on out Pier Road to where the ferry leaves for Portavadie on the Cowal peninsula then generally pottered about. Maeve the Deerhound went back in the car while we had lunch, then we all had another wander along by the quay where the fishing boats berth.

We were back in Campbeltown by late afternoon.
