Life in Sunny Dubai

Practice

End of another week and I had a couple of hours on my own before heading out to church for this...

G had already gone ahead to help with Children's Church (Awana), so I had to first get a taxi... As space is at a premium, practices are scheduled for 8:30 on Thursday evenings - after Awana finishes and the kids leave the premises. Gosh.

Got there to find two new musicians I hadn't played with before. None of them read music. We had songs that were new to them, and two of them were particularly complex. Translate... it took a while... think we finally packed up at 11:30. 8-|

Bevan (the bassist) suggested we had Cinnabon doughnuts (?) afterwards. it actually sounded like a really good idea! I think Mercato definitely wanted to shut down though as all the escalators going up had been switched off. It didn't deter us though, and it was actually good to sit and have a chat with someone with a shared interest who is also hugely committed to what he is doing. Amazingly, his friend who had two young kids in tow also stayed back till that late hour. There you go. Life is definitely different here in Sunny Dubai.

As for our readiness for tomorrow - after 3 hours of working really hard, in the words of Taf, the keyboardist, "God is definitely going to have to be with us tomorrow morning!"

As I am back-blipping on Friday night, I can tell you - He was! :D
