Was It Really So Long Ago

Mono Monday: Numbers

My small home town of Manningtree has made its fame with amongst other things, being the smallest in England, being the base of operations for the witchfinder general Matthew Hopkins and now, for having a clock!

'The clock face was made for the Manningtree Stour Valley Rotary Club by a local sign maker, whose identity has keen [sic] kept under wraps.' reports the Daily Gazette. 'What a wind up!' says the Daily Mail. The clock even had a facebook group 'Manningtree's Dodgy Clock' with nearly 1 000 likes, but I couldn't find any trace of that today.

I gather the undisclosed makers, took refuge in one of the local alehouses soon afterwards, with very red faces. See the EXTRA for a closer view. The town decided to live with the error - anything to put the smallest on the map, must be a good thing!
