Wednesday 25 July 2012: Statue of Cardinal Basil Hume

This statue of Cardinal Basil Hume is in The Monument Garden of The Cathedral Church of St Mary in Newcastle. It is a Catholic cathedral - the mother church of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and seat of the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle. It was built between 1842 and 1844. The Monument Garden was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2002.

I was in Newcastle this afternoon to go to the theatre. I saw "Agatha Christie's Murder On The Nile " at THE TYNE THEATRE which I blipped last November. The cast included Kate O'Mara and Susie Amy. The play was rather old fashioned but the acting was good. Lot of empty seats - we all had to clap extra loud at the end to show our appreciation.
