Coop's Shot Tower

Arrived at 4.45am this morning into Melbourne this morning. After a coffee stop at the airport we headed into the city. We spent the day walking the city, nearly 17km according to my health app log! Our feet are tired and so are we!

Melbourne is so different to Perth. It seems very European in style and much busier. Looking forward to exploring more over the coming days.

This picture is actually inside Melbourne Central shopping complex. It is a 'shot tower' that was preserved when the centre was built. I'd never even heard of a shot tower before, it appears it was how they used to make shots for guns in ye olde days. Molten lead was dropped from the top of the tower (this one is 50m high) into water at the bottom. The drop would cool in the lead into the shot shape. You learn something new everyday!
