Holt Hall

M and I visited Holt Hall this morning, just up the road from our house, this beautiful old building is owned by Norfolk Council and is run as an environmental and field study centre. They have open days four times a year.  Today they were featuring artwork by local young artists.
I enquired about outdoor volunteering opportunities, they welcome volunteers on Mondays and Wednesdays all through the year, and Mondays are spent in the walled garden (see extra) or in the poly tunnels and greenhouses if wet.  (B., this would be a great Norfolk alternative to the 'Green Gym' you volunteer for in Milton Keynes).
The hall was built in the 1840s and extended in the 1860s. The hall is located in an 86-acre (35 ha) estate made up of ancient woodlands, lawns, lakes and gardens.
It was owned by Henry Burcham-Rogers, who inherited it from his father John Rogers in 1906. Henry Burcham-Rogers kept the hall until his death in 1945.
