Pictorial blethers

There's always dinner ...

It's not that today was without interest; merely that preaching isn't really a photo opportunity and was followed by an afternoon of increasingly awful rain so that any thought of going out rapidly dwindled. But on days like this, whether I'm at home or on holiday, there's always dinner - a chance to cook something, simple or complicated, and sit down with a glass of wine and some music to listen to while we eat. (Tonight it was the second half of Tippet's A Child of Our Time - we listened to the beginning last night.)

Tonight's culinary discovery was how to ensure that the mushrooms were a decent crispy bronze rather than a mushy grey: don't poke them around while they're cooking! They're combined with spring onions, garlic and courgettes, with a sprinkle of parsley, some dried Cretan oregano and a few flakes of chilli. A bit of a standby veg (I forgot to buy anything else) but jolly good when it came to it.

There's always dinner ...
