Big Hill

Closing of an emotional day!

It has been an extremely intense and emotional day! Kiln was unloaded, pots packed, sister and husband had an experience of throwing on the potter's wheel....and lots of the usual activities at Big Hill.

Then Terry and I headed up to North River for the service and wake for Carol! Wow...what a gathering! A huge number of people came out...and no wonder, this woman was such a dynamic force in this community. The first 2 hours folks chatted, hugged....eat some awesome food....cried, hugged, laughed and just hung out with each other!

The 'service' part began with a woman playing some Tibetan Singing Bowls...what a deep and mystical sound. We all gathered in the hall and then 5-6 of this communities most talented musicians, mostly fiddles, and a guitar....took to the stage and played a lament that i'm sure left very few dry eyes. Following that, some 7-8 speakers gave eulogies to Carol. Unfortunately we had to leave part way thro because i had to drive Janette and Graham to the aiport! It was close!

Then the time came to say goodbye to Janette and Graham....more tears! But i know we will be seeing them over here again!

Off to bed, exhausted and full of such gratitude for the life i have and the loving people i have around me.

Good night from Cape Breton Island!
